Potty Training and Race Cars

Potty Training
Today is potty training day! Jay is equipped with his "big boy undies" - Thomas the Train, Super Heros and Spiderman undies - and he is so happy with those. He got to pick them out himself at the BX

He is DEFINITELY ready to be potty trained. He is ALWAYS taking off his diaper, especially if its poopy. Just the other day I found him at the top of the stairs with no diaper on and his diaper sitting next to him ... and poop smeared on the floor from where he was sitting in several different places :-/ This little boy definitely does NOT like to have a poopy diaper!

Today we have so far gone through 2 pairs of underwear and hes only been out of diapers for 3 hours. Hopefully this potty training thing will go better by the end of the day we'll be at least mostly potty trained!

Race Cars
Jay is in LOVE with Lightening McQueen and the movie "Cars". He is constantly playing with his cars and pointing at the exhaust on them and saying "vroom vroom!" and crashing his cars together.

The other day he was trying to tell Brandon "race car!" while looking directly at him. Brandon looked at me and said "What is he saying!?" I couldnt help but bust out laughing - because his "race car!" sounded like "retard!" and he was saying it over and over again at Brandon.

This Is How We Pray

Jayden is very good at reminding Brandon and I to pray. Especially at meals (sometimes its even a few minutes into the meal and he wont continue to eat until we've prayed, lol) and when its time for bed in the evening. There are times when he stops what hes doing and says "Mom, prayer" for absolutely no reason at all. I think its very sweet and cute to see my little man wanting to pray :) He also has a list of people and things he wants to pray for on a daily basis. Very cute.

The other day, Jay and I were sitting at the table about to have lunch and he did his "Mom, prayer". So I folded my hands and started with "Dear Heavenly Father" when Jay said "Mom!". I looked at him and he was looking at my hands. Now, usually I fold my hands so my fingers are intertwined but that day, for some odd reason, I had folded my hands so that my fingers on my right hand were on top of my pointer finger on my left and this obviously had Jay very upset, lol. With a slight scowl, he leaned over, grabbed my hands and fixed them to how I typically fold them, leaned back in his seat, folded his arms, bowed his head and then said "ok, pray".

I seriously laughed for a good 30 seconds or so. I thought that was one of the cutest things Jay has said/done. I think its funny how matter-of-fact he is about how we pray. :) It truly brings a smile to my face, and I wouldnt have it any other way!

What A Mess!!

Jay has been having a hard time going to bed lately. Not exactly sure why, but he has. We put him in bed at 8pm every night and lately, he's been getting out of bed and playing in  his room until 9 or 9:30. Usually, as long as he stays in his room we dont mind too much. He usually crawls into his bed and falls asleep when he sees fit ;)

Last night, before I went to bed I went to check on him, like I do every night. Last night I walked into a room that did NOT look like it did when put him into bed! It was a disaster! It looked like a tornado went through the room! All the contents from the cupbard and the drawer in Jay's dresser (plus a few things from a box of clothes that are to big for him still) were scattered all over the floor!

I sighed, shook my head and thought to myself "dang it kid!" and took the picture - all with a smile on my face. :) And yes - he will be the one picking up the mess!

As I'm walking out the door, I noticed a little puddle on the ground. "Oh no" was the first thought that came to my mind. I walked over to Jay's bed, pulled Jay's blanket down and you know what I saw?? I little bare butt! That little stinker had taken off his pants and diaper (again!) and had piddeled on the floor - a couple times!

After picking up his puddles, getting a new diaper on him and putting his PJ pants back on, I'm walking out the door and I hear this little voice, "mommy?". I turn around just as I'm about to shut the door and I see my little BamBam blow me a kiss :) I blowed a kiss back, told him I loved him and I hear a little "Love you" back as hes falling back asleep.

Oh the joys of being a mommy! Wouldn't trade it all for anything ... most of the time ;) :) haha.

Lets Try This Again

So shall we try this again??

I know it's been a while (ok, a year and a half-ish) since I last updated this ... but I've decided to keep updating again. The stories or posts (whatever you would like to call them) may not all be very long, perhaps just a paragraph or so, but I figure that's better then nothing! So I will try, every couple of days, to put something on here that Jay does. Cuz we all know that Jay is a crazy and does something outrageous almost every day! haha. And I figured with all our family and friends all being half way around the world now, you all might appreciate it :)

A couple stories :)

Jayden is now a full fledge walker! The only time he crawls is when he falls down and needs to get to something to pull himself back up, or if he REALLY wants to get to something as quick as he can and walking just isn't fast enough, lol. He is getting so good at it though. He looks like a little zombie when he walks still - arms stretched out in front of him to balance himself. I keep trying to take a picture of him like that, arms stretched out, but every time he sees me he stops and drops his arms and smiles ... little camera ham that he is, lol. So I will try and catch him by surprise. :) He is pretty dang good at catching himself and re-balancing himself before he falls on the floor now though. It's so cute to watch him, cuz you can tell that he's trying to concentrate so he wont fall over. lol.

He has started a new little thing - he doesnt like for me to feed him unless I'm feeding him something with a spoon. Other then that - he wants to do it himself. I put something, anything, in his mouth, and he will spit it out and then grab another piece of whatever I'm feeding him and put that in his mouth. lol. I don't know why he does that, part of growing up and claiming his independence I suppose. :) All the parent websites that I'm a "member" of say that this is pretty normal, so I guess I'm not all that worried ;) haha. Haven't braved giving him a spoon and bowl just yet - too scared to do that! Maybe one day soon, but definitely not too soon!

So I went grocery shopping with my mom the other day and this little man was reeeeaaaachiiiiinnnnng for EVERYTHING that he could. Even with the strap around him he would lean as far as he could and try to grab whatever was closest. FInally, my mom handed him a bag of chocolates that she was buying so he could play with it. He looked at it for a while and played with it in his hands, and then decided he was done with it, so he threw it on the floor. Not dropped, THREW. lol. So I picked it up and handed it back to him. He threw it back down. I picked it up, told him not to throw it again, and handed it back to him. What did he do? He looked at me, grinned, and then threw it back on the floor. lol. So i picked it up and put it in the basket behind him. That little man turned around and reached for it, and grabbed it, looked at it for a half a second, and then threw it on the ground again. I couldnt help but laugh. So i finally put it as far away in the basket as i could from him. He turned around, looked at what was in the basket, and grabbed a bag of vegetable and the whole game started again. haha. I wish you could've heard his little giggles, he thought it was soooo funny. Every time I put his current bag/game piece in the back of the basket he would grab something new - didn't matter what it was. He once even grabbed a produce bag that had 2 or 3 sweet potatoes in it. He almost threw it too, but mom caught it just in time before he could actually throw it. lol.

I put him down for a nap the other day, and then went into my room to clean up the mess that he had made, and he cried for all of ... oh, i dunno ... 10 seconds when he stopped. He usually doesn't cry long, but definitely longer then 10 seconds, so i was a little suspicious. I went into his room to see what he was doing - and he had grabbed his baby monitor and pulled it into the crib with him and was playing with it. I took it from him, laid him back down, put the baby monitor back on the basket it was sitting on but farther away this time and went back into my room. Again, he cried for 5 or so seconds and then it was really quiet again. I went back in there to find him in his bed with the baby monitor again. lol. But this time, he had pulled the lid of the basket closer to his crib and THEN grabbed the monitor. lol. He is so smart, I can hardly believe it. :)

Jaybers is a Walking Machine!!

Jaybers is starting to get more confident in walking! He is doing it more and more often which is good, but it scares me! lol. So I finally got a video for you to watch! Here you go! ...

... he is getting so good at it, huh?! He loves to push things around too - whether its a chair from the table, or his sound table (its a little "table" that has different sound makers on it, and it does music or other sounds on it) or the computer chair, whatever he can find! lol. I think he will definitely be just walking by his birthday if he keeps this pace up! ;) :)

I'll talk to you soon! I love you!

Our Lil Tazmanian

Merry (late) Christmas and Happy New Year!

Jayden has a special way of going through the house - and leaving a nice little mess trail behind him. I can always tell where he's been by things that are out of its place. He LOVES to pull the pillows off the couches, the blankets off the back of the couches, dump the dog food and/or water from the dog bowls, the books (as many as he can get to and reach), spreading Padfoots toys all over the front room, empty the diaper bag which sits on a chair by the back door, jars, lids and Tupperware from the bottom drawers in the kitchen, all the kid cups and water pitchers from the drawer and cupboard that is of course in his reach, and then scattering everything that he possibly can in the play room. lol. I almost feel like all I do anymore is go around the house cleaning up behind him ;)

Our little man has started to master walking :) He is getting more and more confident and brave everyday - taking more and more steps at once. The farthest he's gone so far I think it 8 or 9 feet - pretty impressive for a 10 1/2 month old I think! The kids (the Tart kids) keep asking that if Jay is walking good enough by his birthday if we're still gonna go to Charlie Safari ... I told them no and that we'll probably go next year for his 2nd b-day when you can be there. I want him to be able to play in all the toys and everything with you :)

There are 2 chairs that we keep by the back door and he loves to stand in front of them and push them along - anywhere he might be wanting to go. Its so cute. He loves to do that with the vacuum too when its out. He used to do it with a little toy shopping cart, but he hasnt used that often anymore. He LOVES to play in Padfoots kennel too. I don't know why, but he does. He will crawl in there and then play with the gate/door and just talk and talk and talk. Its so cute. I thought it was so funny.

His vocabulary is also growing. As you know he can say mama and dada, and I swear I heard him say "bye" last night. We were at the store and the clerk was just in love with him so when we were leaving I told Toots to "say bye bye" which usually he just waves, but he started waving and i Swear I heard him say "byyyyeee". I was shocked. Totally excited, but shocked :) He is also getting to where he likes to feed himself. If I feed him something and he thinks he could've done it better, he will spit it out, and then grab the same thing, (but a different slice usually) and put it in his mouth again. Little terd ;) just likes to defy mommy already, and hes not even a year old!

He LOVES to play with the little bear your mom got him for Christmas. It has a couple of songs on there and he has even started "dancing" when he hears them. He also claps his hands when he hears the "paddy cake" song. It is SO gosh darn cute. Jared and Marcus also got a soft rubber bowling set, and he LOVES to steal the pins from them when they play. They get mad at him, but I think its hillarious and just laugh :) hehe, I know, evil right?

Well I should get going. I hope you have/had a good day and I'm sure I'll talk to you soon! I hope you liked all the pictures this time!! I LOVE YOU! xoxoxoxoxoxo
